On December 14, 1960 the following officers were installed in Epsilon,Collegiate Chapter:
On October 30, 1960, seven lowly neophytes appeared before the August Court, seeking admission to our esteemed organization. The following were initiated:
Charles J. Barton,
James D. Buchan,
Edward C. Hayes, David LaRue,
J. Fred McDonald,
James R. Stanley, and
Jack Tjeerdsma.
Our ever-faithful patron, Dr. Eric Bellquist, and our Alumni Brothers and Chapter Brothers aided us in the initiation. That night 22 people, including Mrs. George (Hildegard) Millar - the only "sister" in the Fraternity - attended our banquet at Art's Buffet.
At our first business meeting, immediately after initiation, a Committee of Procedures was set up to look into our weaknesses as an organization. At a special meeting called on November 22, 1960, the Committee reported:
Two strong committees were formed to work with the President, with rotation of work assignments, to alleviate the pressure on one man.
There will be Rushing, Pledging and Initiation Committee, with the Vice President as Chairman. The Chairman will serve for one semester only, whereas the members will serve a full year ending in June of every year. Should a member become President or Vice President, the members of that committee, with the consent of the potential committee member, will choose a replacement. The duties of the committee members are: get new members, work on all communications related to Initiation, with any necessary aid from the Publications and Publicity Committee. Toward the end of the fall semester, they will again reach out for potential members for the spring semester. This will not be repeated at the end of the spring semester due to the long summer vacation. However, they will begin rushing the first day of registration.
A Publications and Publicity Committee, with the Secretary as Chairman, will be set up. The Chairman will serve for one semester only, whereas the members will serve for a full year ending in June of every year. Replacement will be in the same manner as in the RPI Committee. The duties of the Committee members will be: Anything pertaining to Publications and Publicity, with special assistance from the R P I Committee during the pledging period.
Retain the use of the "Shipping Tag" - However, the system of merits and demerits will heve a purpose, i.e., a limit will be set on these. If a pledge gets too many demerits he will be subject to rejection.
Discontinue the use of the paddle.
Recommended: that the coxswain preside at all pledge meetings, and that he be a member of the RPI Committee; that a dinner meeting, with speaker, be held every semester between initiation and election; that we have one beer bust during the pledging period; that we have another ski trip to Lake Tahoe in 1961. The Fraternity will contribute $50 from the Treasury.

Met at 2 p.m. by Wallace Holt and shown around San Francisco. At 6 p.m. Brother Tom Cameron from the Faculty of the University of California came to hotel for drinks and review of program.
At 7 p.m. about 8 Active Brothers and 20 Alumni gathered at an Italian restaurant for an excellent dinner. Organized by Brother David Druhe, President of the San Francisco National Chapter and presided over by the President of Epsilon Collegiate Chapter. I reviewed our plans for the next 2 years and told of my present trip. Dr. Spreakle of the Faculty carried on with the meaning of DPE to him and elaborated on history of many of the names I mentioned. A nice evening and a good group. I told them to get after Stanford and reactivate that Chapter. This can be done through General Faymonville.
