On October 3, 1962 elections were held for the fall term. In the past, officers were elected in the fall and their teams ran until the following fall. However, past difficulties show that a more efficient term should begin in January and run until the following January. The officers just elected and listed above, therefore, will serve until this coming January only.
The program this fall calls for a continued program of reunification in the Chapter, an intensive pledging period for the fall pledge class. Delta Collegiate Chapter and the Southern California National Chapter are pleased to announce that they will host National President John Kinsey at a banquet at the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday, October 12, 1962.
On October 20, Delta will have a party at the home of Brother Phil Cohl. If the California Weather Bureau cooperates, the party will be an outside pool and barbecue fiesta.
As a bit of information which might interest some of the Brothers, there was recently formed at the University of Southern California -- in the spring of 1962 -- an International Relations sorority: Sigma Gamma Sigma. Delta looked with a critical eye at this intrusion of the fair sex into an exclusively male sphere, but the members of this sorority have begun to prove themselves this year, both in quality of membership and in interest in their chosen field. Delta Phi Epsilon brothers, who know of young women interested in this new development in foreign service, may get in touch with the President of Sigma Gamma Sigma, Karen Hubenthal, by writing to Bro. Selwyn Coates, P.O. Box 303, University of Southern California, Los Angeles 7, California.
The following letter, giving the address of Bro. Robert Behymer Moody De-'40, and listing his activities, is from his mother, Mrs. E. Earl Moody, 100 North Arden Boulevard, Los Angeles 4, California:
"In reply to your letter of June 25, 1962, to my son, Robert Behymer Moody, concerning national dues of Delta Phi Epsilon, I am enclosing a check for ten dollars and hope that this sum will cover the current dues.
"Robert is at present teaching in Egypt where he has been residing for the past two years. Previously he served in the Foreign Service of the State Department in Teheran, Iran; Chungking and Nanking, China; and in Ankara, Turkey. During those years much of his mail went astray as it has again done recently in Egypt. He will be one more year at the American University at Cairo -- and possibly a fourth year. It is almost impossible for him to send money out of the country, so I am endeavoring to take care of his obligations in the United States and elsewhere.
"I sent a check to Delta Phi Epsilon last year, but discovered this past week that it was for local dues only.
"I hope that the amount enclosed will place Robert in good standing again with the Fraternity."
