I have just left Goldman Sachs to join Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette International in London to work with European High Yield Sales as a vice-president. I am definitely excited about the challenge and opportunity this market offers. High Yield is still nascent here and, if the prevailing view comes to pass, it will be huge. I want to be on this wave.
I will be back in the US to get my affairs in order starting Wednesday for about 3 weeks. I will likely pass through DC briefly at some point during that time and will be sure to let you know.
My new e-mail address in London is: selliott@dlj.com

Thanks a ton for tracking me down and sending me a copy of The Sun. It was nice of you to post some news about my first novel on the site. The book did very well, reaching #9 on the New York Times list and selling (I just got the final figures) 118,406 copies in hardback. Paperback publication is scheduled for December of this year.
I've had an interesting time since leaving GU. An MBA at the University of Texas at Austin ('87) was followed by a seven year stint in Switzerland. Gave up the corporate world in '95 to become a writer full time and moved back to Austin where the living is relatively cheap and the weather nice and warm year round.
I'm married and have a daughter, Noelle, age 10 months. Boy, what a change in lifestyle that is.
I'm in close contact with Bro. Barron Eyraud, who is a senior vice president at a bond firm in Manhattan and speak frequently with Bro. David Kim, who is executive managing director of Julien J. Studley Commercial Real Estate. I heard Bro. Seth-Lloyd Baranoff was a teacher in Las Vegas. Any word on Bro. John Bullis? And can you give me Bro. Dan Sweeney's address?
I have nothing but fond memories of my days at Delta Phi. thanks for keeping up the tradition.
Hope you are well. Terry, next time I'm through D.C., I'll give you a call.

Greetings from a resurging Motor City.
After retiring from GM in 1986 as General Director of Market Analysis and Forecasting, I am keeping busy with golf, bridge, cooking and volunteering (church, soup kitchen, etc.). My 33 years with GM was in the market research, market planning & market forecasting area. I never did get involved in the foreign affairs area, although the education was quite useful throughout my career.
Cheers and best wishes to all.

I enjoyed reading the last edition of The SUN. As you can see, I have a new address: 81 Lewiston Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
I was a founding member of Mu Chapter and graduated from Michigan State University in 1956. I received a scholarship to attend George Washington University, where I received a Master's degree in Government in 1958.
My career started in the International Department of Chase Manhattan Bank. Later in my career I was treasurer of Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, the state's largest utility. For the past seven yearsI have been a financial consultant for Merrill Lynch.
Our three children and their families live in Alexandria, VA; so we get to the Washington area on a regular basis.
Best wishes on the continued success of the Fraternity.

In the course of misusing the Internet access afforded me by my employer, I came across the Delta Phi Epsilon home page. Too many years have passed. I hope they find you happy and in good health.
A quick "business" note: my new address is 295 Dunhams Corner Road, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. More on this address change later.
Allow me to provide a brief synopsis of my post undergrad life: GU Law Center (JD '84); spent about 4 years managing the legal and corporate affairs of a British/Saudi Arabian real estate development and management group based in Jeddah; returned to the US in '88 to pursue various Stateside opportunities, and defaulted into the private practice of law (until recently).
In '89 married Laura Bowne, also a lawyer. She has, for the time being, left the practice of law to care for our two young children. My daughter, Sara Elizabeth, is now 3 and 1/2 years old. She is Chinese. We travelled to Nanning, China, where she was in an orphanage, about 2 and 1/2 years ago, and spent about a month there completing the ins and outs of the adoption process. About a year ago, I travelled to Seoul, Korea, and returned with our adopted son, Jacob Edward. He is now 1 and 1/2 years old. Both are healthy, active children. We are blessed.
In June '87, I left the private practice of law, motivated primarily by the desire to spend more time with my young family. Plus, the daily banging of my head against the wall had begun to hurt. Since then, I have been part of CNA's National Coverage Counsel operation. Essentially, I advise the company on insurance coverage questions and, when necessary, litigate major coverage cases on their behalf. It is a nice hybrid between being a client and a practicing lawyer.
About six months ago, we purchased, and set about restoring, a 180-year old farmhouse in East Brunswick, built by my wife's forebearers. Her father grew up there, and she grew up there. The idea was to simplify our lives, and perhaps foster a greater sense of family roots and tradition in both our children and perhaps ourselves. I suppose the theory is still sound. All I know is that I have been staying with in-laws for far too long and have spent far too much money in the process. Bob Villa wouln't have taken on this project. We should be in in two weeks or so.
I hope this note travels the proper wires and comes out at your end. I may be reached, via e-mail, at
david.barry@cna.com

dc_barry@yahoo.com.
My office number is 973-243-5405. I am told that I will have a home telephone number in about two weeks.

Hope everything is well there, say hi to all: jeff, joe Grib, etc..
Joe (Dad: DPE National President, Bro. Joseph O. Eblan, Al-'45) is doing better - he has had Bladder Cancer since November, but has had an operation that seems to have gotten it all... it didn't spread, thank God.
I spent over a month with the folks in New Hampshire over xmas, but I am back in SF looking for work... I am interviewing for a Sr F/Analyst position with a law firm here: Graham & James - int'l law, defense litig, &cetera... I would oversee P&L for London & Hong Kong offices. Let me know if you've heard of them or if we have anyone on the inside there..
I have enclosed a pic of Joe Eblan taken in 1948 at the front door of Alpha house, when he was House Mgr... very swank... Dad has been in touch with old roomy & fellow line pledge brother, Greg Mandeville.. Greg live in Florida now..
I got the latest issue of "Sun" - thanks for that... one of these days I'm going to pay my Life mem dues... lol
my email address is Marco2119@aol.com, yes - obscure ref to my line & pledge #. I would love to be in touch with any/all brothers that are in SF or coming here, so let all know I'm available in a brotherly way..

To: Al Chap, DPE Web SiteI've just completed my first tour of the DPE web site. Abso-f**king-lutely fantastic!!! This is one of the best web sites I've ever visited - the links all work correctly and they flow logically. A really professional job. From a data standpoint, the research is top flight. A really great job, I hope you all keep it updated.
I am still doing my international financial consulting, and just completed a couple of assignments involving telecommunications projects in an area of the former Soviet Union and in a PacRim country.
My favorite Delta Phi story is when I was standing with a group of very straight laced and uptight corporate types in the lobby of the Intercont hotel in Tehran (during the good old days there) and hearing a voice from the other side of the lobby yell out "Wallow Brother Barnum" (note: "Wallow" was often used instead of "Hello" in those days since we brothers all accepted the fact that we were, in many ways, barely domesticated) - Well it was Sully [Bro. Michael Kenney Patrick O'Sullivan, Al-'65] and we ended up spending the night in the bar talking about old times such - Truly the sun never sets...
Keep up the good work on the web site!
Fraternally,
Bro. W. Douglas Barnum (Alpha 91st line)

For the past 5 years I and my wife of 40 years Lorraine, have been living in Scottsdale, Az. I own and run a computer store in Phoenix.
I am an avid bike (pedal power) rider. This year my eldest daughter Diane and I will be biking cross-country, starting in Bend, Or. via Bosie, Id, Minneapolis, Mn, Port Huron, MI, Bufallo, NY to Philadelphia, Pa. We weill traveling self-contained - that is we are carrying everyrthing with us, including cooking and sleeping gear since motels are not always available on the back roads of Idaho, Wyoming, So. Dakota, etc.
If any of you live along or near this proposed route and would like to feed a couple of travelers and hear our stories, I would be pleased to hear from you. My e-mail address is:

To: Al Chap, DPE Web SiteI was just sorting through a sea of paper at high tide in my apartment and ran across two issues of the Sun. Now, your e-mail asking for my current snail mail address. What greater forces can be at work here?
My postal address is:
2101 Chestnut St., Apt. 1617
Philadelphia, PA 19103I'll be there until Wharton's graduation on May 17th, after which I begin eight to ten weeks of travel leading up to my job as a uranium miner (investment banking associate) at Morgan Stanley in London.
I plan to visit DC within the next few months. Hopefully, you'll be around. Who knows, perhaps I'll drop in on Initiation Weekend to give well-intentioned words of encouragement to the neophytes in their travails. After all, it would be a shame if we alumni didn't make use of the new web site's calendar of events...

To: Al Chap, DPE Web SiteJust received The Sun and, having seen your e-mail address, I thought I would let you know what's new.
By the way, why not make it possible that dues be payable via credit card so that we can email them in?
I am still judging in Fairfax, but won't see a promotion to a higher court. Now finishing my 18th year. Just reappointed for another six year term. Problem with going on the bench at 33 is that I have more than enough years to retire, but cannot until age 60. Nine more years.
I am still active in the Army Reserve. Travelled to Bangkok in January and will do Argentina, Portugal later this year. We all get older and it sucks.
I bought another motorcycle. The last one I had, you might recall, was a '67 Triumph which I kept in the basement. Now I have a Harley, as does Becky, my bride of almost 30 years.
Hoping to make the Founders' Day dinner.
